Lay Symbol Pattern

  Edit Bar controls: Symbol pattern, Design extents, Collision checking, Sub-blocks.

This tool allows you to manually place a symbol pattern relative to the current layer.

Symbol pattern

From the drop-down box select the pattern required. These settings are stored in the Master Tool Settings. You can make a temporary override to the settings shown by pressing the edit button to the right of the drop-down list and changing the values shown in the Symbol Pattern Attributes form.

Design extents

From the drop-down list select the method of calculating the design extents.

Cut Type

This mode will create the pattern relative to the cut type extents of the current layer. The cursor will display a rectangle the size of the cut type extents.

Visible

The visible extents of any entities in the current layer will become the design extents for any symbols in the selected pattern placed relative to the design. Any symbols in the pattern relative to the wood extents will be placed relative to the cut type extents in the current layer. The cursor will display a rectangle the size of the visible extents.

Symbol Extents

This mode will create the pattern relative the cut type extents of the current layer. The cursor will display the pattern of symbols.

Selected

This option is only available if the current layer contains selected entities. The extents of any selected entities in the current layer will become the design extents for any symbols in the selected pattern placed relative to the design. Any symbols in the pattern relative to the wood extents will be placed relative to the cut type extents in the current layer. The cursor will display a rectangle the size of the visible extents.

Collision checking

This option determines if any symbols in the pattern which have the option to collision check assigned to them will collision check with any visible entities in the current layer.

Sub-blocks

Switch this option on if the symbols are to be placed in a sub-block. The sub-block will be given the same name as the Symbol Pattern Master Tool Setting.

To place the symbol pattern, choose the options required on the Edit Bar and the required snap mode. (The cursor position relative to the pattern extents will be as defined by the symbol pattern attributes.) Pick the anchor point of the symbol pattern.
