Add Flatbed Dieboard

This tool allows you to create a flatbed dieboard profile, apply balance knives and add standard parts relative to the cut type extents or relative to selected entities in the current layer.

If the dieboard geometry is to be created relative to entities other than the cut type extents, select these before activating the tool. Also note that symbols placed may have the option to collision check with visible entities; therefore ensure only entities that you wish to collision check the symbols with are visible. When the tool is run the dieboard creation form appears.

From the left hand list of dieboard machine sizes select the one required. You can make a temporary override to the settings by double clicking the name or by right click and override the settings shown in the dieboard settings form.

In the bottom right text box a message will be displayed stating if the design extents falls within the allowances, outside the allowances or if no design allowances have been specified in the selected setting. If the design extents fall outside the allowances, a warning is then displayed - 'Design falls outside allowances specified, do you want to continue?'

Once you have selected the settings and options press OK to create the dieboard.

Dieboard Creation

The dieboard profile is added along with balance knives to the back edge of the dieboard if required.

If enabled in the settings, the default woodsize and grip edge distance is displayed, allowing you to change them. Once you have the correct values press Continue . (Reset  will set the values back to the default and Cancel  will cancel the tool.)

Again, if this option has been enabled in the settings, the default offset values are displayed allowing you to override the placement of the wood by inputting an X or Y offset value. Press Continue when ready. (Reset  and Cancel  operate as before.)

Depending on the settings again, you may now be able to override the number of balancing knives added by changing the number on the edit bar.

You can use the override button  to override some of the settings on the edit bar.

Here you can change the Back of die to first knife, Last knife to back edge and Separate entity knife length. As you change these values the others will be recalculated and the dieboard updated accordingly.

Once you are happy with the values press Continue . (Reset  and Cancel  operate as before.)

At this stage any standard parts (symbols) will be added.

Symbols can be automatically placed, for example plate location holes, or you will be prompted to place them. Any patterns that require you to place them manually will display a prompt on the status bar.

When all the symbols have been placed, you then have the option to delete any symbols in the pull down list on the Edit Bar.

To delete symbols placed, select the symbol to be deleted in the Symbols pull down and from the Mode select Delete Symbols or Select Symbols.

If mode Delete Symbols is chosen then pick each symbol to be deleted.

If the mode Select Symbols is chosen then pick the symbols to keep, then press Delete Others  to delete the symbols not selected.

Rewind  will add the last deleted symbols back, Cancel  will cancel the tool and Reset  will remove all the symbols and add them all again from scratch.

At this stage you also have the option to choose Wood size or Dieboard position from the first pull down to return to the Woodsize and grip edge edit bar or the Dieboard offset edit bar.

When complete, press Finish  on the Edit Bar.
