This tool allows you to dimension distances between parallel lines.

Pick the first line. A flexible dimension, comprising a projection line, dimension line and text outline is drawn.
Pick the second line defining the dimension. If two lines are selected which are not parallel, an error message will appear to this effect. Again a flexible dimension is drawn, allowing you to fix the position of the dimension line.
Auto Infer - you can use the Auto Infer option to place multiple dimensions between a series of parallel lines. Pick the first and the last of the lines. Then pick a point for the inference line which passes through all the parallel lines to be dimensioned.
Finally pick a position for the dimension line.
Constraint Manager
If you have the Constraint Manager active whilst using Auto Infer mode, the Dimension Value window will pop up for each pair of parallel lines crossed by the inference line. The pair of lines will be highlighted whilst you are being prompted for the dimension value.
