Layout Placement Editor

This form is opened when you choose the Placement - Properties option from the Layout Editor form. You can use it to override the settings on the Layout Editor for the current design component group.

Placement Editor - General

Placement name

The name of the Design Component Group is displayed here. You cannot change it.

Quantity

Grid

Enter the required number of one-ups in the X and Y direction.

Rotation

Horizontal

From the pulldown menu choose None, Always or Automatic.

Vertical

From the pulldown menu choose None, Always or Automatic.

Initial rotate

Enter the required rotation angle for the one-ups.

Shift

Direction

From the pulldown menu choose Horizontal or Vertical.

Amount

Either enter a value, or more likely, press the Manual Shift button and identify two snapped points to define the required shift, to give the preferred nesting. This is particularly useful when the automatic nesting hasn't provided the best possible solution. Alternatively, press the Automatic Shift button and allow Impact to work out the best shift value. In both cases the calculated Amount will be updated.

Placement Editor - Options

Flute/Grain Alignment

Type

From the pulldown choose None, Match or Always Rotate.

Spacing

From the pulldown choose Manual Spacing or Automatic Spacing. If you choose Manual Spacing then you'll be prompted to enter a Horizontal spacing value and a Vertical spacing value. Otherwise you'll have the following options:

Horizontal Interlock

Switch this option on to interlock the one-ups in the horizontal direction.

Vertical Interlock

Switch this option on to interlock the one-ups in the vertical direction.

Uniform step and repeat

Switch this option on to specify uniform spacing between each of the one-ups.

Mirror

Mirror about x-axis

Switch this option on to mirror the design component group about the x-axis.

Mirror about y-axis

Switch this option on to mirror the design component group about the y-axis.

Gutter

You can use these options to apply a gutter between the designs in this design component group.

Bi-directional

Switching this option on allows you to specify gutters in either or both directions.

Horizontal

Enter the required value for the horizontal gutter.

Vertical

Enter the required value for the vertical gutter.

Full perimeter gutter

Switch this option on to ensure that the gutter value is applied around the full perimeter of each one-up.

Continuous Perpendicular

Switch this option to calculate gutters which are offsets of a continuous distance around each of the one-ups, rather than just spacings in the horizontal and vertical directions. Enter the required value into the Distance field.

Auto

If this button is selected then the design component group will have any changes applied immediately and the preview display will be updated to reflect the changes.

Update

If the Auto button is switched off, then you'll need to press this button to apply your changes to the design component group and update the preview display.
